"Historically, Town & City were one of three companies called to tender for the management of our project when we found our previous supplier's services much less than satisfactory, and their accounts and charges illogical and unjustifiable.
On interview we were impressed by Town & City's no nonsense approach to our needs and they won the tendering process. Despite our previous agents attempts to cause havoc during their notice period, Town & City were up to the job and saw us through what could have been a very difficult period.
Currently, from a personal point of view I have always found Town & City to be very approachable and being able to deal with the same named people all the while is very reassuring. They deal with any problem quickly and respond to any maintenance work that needs doing with alacrity. An added bonus is that we are allowed to use local tradesmen for most jobs i.e. gardens, plumbing and electrics. "I was part of the team as then a director of Wilton Castle in 2005 that carried out a research project looking into “Management Companies” who were based locally and had the personnel, accessibility, structure and local maintenance contractors to manage our prestige estate. "I have owned an apartment at Chesterfields, Darlington for ten years. I have lived in it for just over seven years and been a member of the on-site management group for approximately five years.
Throughout this time, Town & City Management (TCML) have been the company that has looked after the general management of the development. I have as a private resident, had occasion to contact TCML regarding various issues and they have sorted them out in a professional and expedient manner to find a solution to any of my/our problems.
During my time as a member of the site management committee, I have had regular contact with TCML and various departments within the Group. I, along with my fellow Directors, have had numerous meetings with TCML management, in particular, Susan Johnson and have been impressed with the way in which they manage the affairs pertaining to Chesterfields.

"We are currently the Directors of Commissioners Wharf Right to Manage Company.
All of us have resided here for a great number of years, 12-13 years and the shortest approximately 8 years and we have been through many changes.  In the early days due to complete mismanagement by a previous management company we were faced with yearly additional service charge payments of 100's of pounds which when you consider there are 64 apartments in our development, there was a huge under estimation of our running costs.  These underestimations result in the books having to be balanced by the end of the year. I.e. we have to pay the shortfall.  There was also no residual money in the bank for future large expenditure like decorating; carpets etc and we were in a very unhealthy financial position for years.
Since Town & City took over the day to day running of our development, things have improved greatly.  It was at their recommendation that we became a Right to Manage Company (RTM).  This meant that the owner of the lease could not hold us to ransom over the ever increasing buildings insurance costs.  They would only be one vote as are each of the Leaseholders.
We now have a great working relationship with Town & City, particularly with Martin Baker.   Since his appointment in 2011, we have all worked closely for a common goal, and he has worked tirelessly to ensure we have a fantastic service from Town & City.  He goes above and beyond what is required and it is greatly appreciated.  We are consulted continually over all decisions involving our properties and it is honestly necessary to ensure the smooth running of a development like this.  It is after all our homes or an investment for the future if you rent your property out.
We now have a VERY healthy reserve fund which means we can meet any unexpected expense, and accurately budget for ongoing future expenses. We have no hesitation in recommending Town & City as a Managing Agent."
