Town & City Management Ltd have been declared Finalists in the FSB North East Business Awards 2018 in two categories: Scale Up Business of the Year and Employer of the Year.
The FSB Business Awards are designed to help Britain's smaller businesses to step into the limelight and celebrate their achievements at a national level. The awards showcase the best small businesses from the length and breadth of the UK, providing recognition to those businesses who have made the biggest impression over the last 12 months.
Both of the FSB Award nominations we have received recognise that 2017 has been a highly successful year for Town & City:
FSB Awards Employer of the Year Finalist
At Town & City, we see our staff as our biggest asset, and we care very much about the development and support of each individual. We consider our employees as partners in our growing business and are continually looking ahead to improve the employee experience, and we are committed to promoting career development, celebrating the accomplishments of all our employees, and constantly assessing the nature of the developments to ensure that no Property Manager is overworked or overwhelmed and that they are fully supported at all times.
As a result, our staff are extremely loyal, and are renowned for remaining with our company for a long time. Because our staff turnover is so low, this in turn allows for a consistent team approach and we are proud to celebrate this positive culture of mutual support and growth.
FSB Awards Scale Up Business of the Year Finalist
We substantially increased the number of their employees between 2016 and 2017, adding an extra 11 members of staff to managing many of the developments in our 310-property portfolio up and down the country. The acquisition of these extra staff members has increased our company’s resources both at our head office in Darlington and at our newest operation in Bournemouth. Our numbers have risen from 21 members of staff to 32, an increase of 52% in a single year.
To keep up to date with the latest issues being encountered by leaseholders, and to have an input on potential reforms to housing policies, our Managing Director Peter Bigge also regularly attends the All Party Parliamentary Group on Leasehold and Commonhold Reform at the Palace of Westminster.
We have recently created this new, responsive website to hold important documents centrally for leaseholders to keep everyone up to date with their latest news. We have also produced a smart new brochure, and standardised our company logo, and in terms of innovation, we are always looking for ways to add value to the customer experience in each of our developments. In the light of Grenfell Tower tragedy, we took it upon ourselves to take the initiative and created a 16-page Fire Safety booklet for our leaseholders at all our properties, which has been much applauded by ARMA-Q. We have also begun to organise regular Fire Service visits for our properties to educate leaseholders and tenants on fire safety methods and fire prevention. Finally, to keep proper control on which suppliers and contractors hold keys for their properties, we also now use Keyzapp, and record all telephone calls to protect both staff and clients.
