Town & City Management Ltd have been selected as property managing agents to the Old Tannery development in central Canterbury.
Bellway's Old Tannery Augustine Apartments and Townhouses development consists of 409 properties, making this the largest development in Town & City’s current portfolio.
Consisting of an exclusive collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments and townhouses within the old city walls of historic Canterbury, the stylish site is located just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral’s precincts and cloisters and St. Augustine's Abbey.
Fully completed in 2015, the Old Tannery development has a very interesting past. It lies on the site of St Mildred’s Tannery, founded by Stephen Williamson in the 1790s, which was active in and around the Stour Street area of the city for over 200 years. In the early 20th century, Williamsons became known nationally as a supplier of fine leather to the new motor car trade including Rolls Royce and Bentley, and even the House of Lords, before being acquired by Connollys in 1963.
After the business closed, the site was acquired by Bellway Homes in 2002, with the development being constructed over a 10 year period.
Today Bellway is one of Britain’s largest house building companies and is continuing to grow throughout the country. Since its formation, Bellway has built and sold over 100,000 homes catering for first time buyers to more seasoned home buyers and their families. The Group’s rapid growth has turned Bellway into a multi-million-pound company, employing over 2,000 people directly and many more sub-contractors, with a portfolio spanning all regions of the country.
